The LSU need YOU...

They made this. They make a lot of stuff. Nicked from Almost Always Thinking. Usual rules apply.

Hello gang.

There's a new vacancy going at the LSU (the London Strategy Unit). They've been in touch with us here at AdGrads towers.

Below is the job spec. It's a fairly broad one, so there's every chance you'd be in with a chance if, like a lot of our readers, you have multiple skills and aren't sure if you're a planner, account handler or otherwise:

"We're looking for a couple of researchers, writers or journalist types to help us produce insightful and entertaining content. You'll need to be brand and business savvy as well as having a good knowledge of culture and trends.

Those without a curious mind need not apply.

If this sounds like you, and you're interested - send your CV and no more than 150 words on what makes you the right person for the job to recruitment at londonstrategyunit.com."

Sounds fascinating, eh? They have some of the brightest minds in the business working for them, and it would be a great move for several of you.

Dare to dream..

I doubt you'd be working with the US Women's soccer team...

Hello folks.

There's a new, exciting graduate job up, posed by the lovely Nick Emmel at Dare. Below's the job spec:

"Do you ever look at the likes of Zuckerberg and Larry Page and think that you could have done the same if you were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time? Do you get angsty when you see all these exciting little start-ups selling themselves for enormous sums and wonder why you never got a slice of the action? Do you pine to be there at the formation of something great? To get the chance to mould it with your own fair hands?

These opportunities rarely pop up. And when they do, it takes a clever (or lucky) soul to spot them. Sometimes you just need someone to point them out to you.

We need a graduate to join our new little venture. It's a rather exciting, nimble little beast. Doing all those digital agency things, but doing them in the way that everyone agrees they *should* be done.

No process, no politics, no timesheets.

Just clever, quick, creative thinking by a few lovely people. Making proper stuff, properly.

Below is the job spec:

  • A graduate, with maybe a few agency work placements under their belt looking for their first permanent gig.
  • You'll have an impressive academic record and a desire to keep on learning every day
  • Someone, that despite being new to the game, is already thinking about being at the top
  • A broad-minded soul, willing to get their hands dirty in every part of the agency world. Planning, account management, production, even creative.
  • An articulate, chatty individual who doesn't get intimidated by senior types or men with beards
  • Finally, you better be a lovely person. Being in a small team means that plonkers aren't tolerated.
You have a passport and no criminal record (unless it was for something cool).

Drop me an email at nick.emmel at thisisedc.com. It'll be fun, we can chat and stuff."

UPDATE - 13TH OF MARCH; THIS HAS NOW CLOSED.

Sounds like a cool gig to me. Good luck, chaps.

Rainey's want an Account Exec...

A black cat. You might be working with two of them.

Rainey Kelly have gotten in touch with me, letting me know about a new role for a grad.

So, without further ado, here's the blurb:

"Would you like to work for one of the UK’s top advertising agencies?

We’re currently looking for a bright, sparky individual to join our Account Management department as an Account Executive.

As the UK’s most effective creative agency, we develop multimedia campaigns for some of the country’s biggest brands, including Virgin Atlantic, the BBC, Lloyds TSB and M&S. That includes everything from traditional media like TV right through to the most cutting-edge new media, which makes it a truly exciting place to work. And while we take great pride in what we do, others agree too – as well as being top of the Gunn Report, we are also the only advertising agency ever to win a BAFTA.

The challenges of account management are many, but the main skills you will need as an Account Executive are good organisation, a sharp mind, speedy problem-solving and an ability to think laterally. (Proficiency with a kettle wouldn't go amiss either.) Needless to say, it's also fundamentally important that you are turned on by ads in all their forms, contemporary culture, and finding out what makes people tick.

We’re not looking for a particular type of character, though. One of the best things about rkcr/y&r is the diversity of people who work here, so we like to keep an open mind about who we recruit next.

If you’d like to find out more about us, have a look at our company website: www.rkcryr.com.

To apply, please send your CV, a covering letter and a short written response to the below question to grads@uk.yr.com.

“At RKCR/Y&R we believe that brands need energy to survive. Pick a brand you think currently lacks ‘brand energy’ and tell us what you would do to revive it” (300 words)

Equally, if you have any questions, just drop us a note and we’d be happy to help. We’re looking to hire soon so don’t hesitate to get in touch. Look forward to hearing from you! One other thing – please only apply if you are eligible to work in the UK."

Best of luck with it.

A few brilliant new opportunities...

Yes, those guys.

Hello gang.

With graduate recruitment season drawing to a close, I thought it would be a good idea to draw your attention to two other opportunities.

Number one is at the aforementioned company. You might have heard of them.

Anyway, they've (and another company) been in touch with us here at AdGrads towers to tell of some vacancies for bright grads:

1) Despite newspaper reports of 1 in 5 graduates being unemployed, Google had a great 2010 and are looking to ramp up their hiring in 2011.

Google's Online Media Associate Programme is a 2.5 year career development programme which offers international graduates from all academic disciplines an insight into online business, advertising and new technologies. The program is available in both our European Headquarters in Dublin, Ireland and our Wroclaw office in Poland.

There are also positions available in the London office, which can be found at google.co.uk/jobs, such as Account Manager or Industry Analyst.

If you have a strong academic record and would like to find out more about working for Google, or would like to apply for any of these roles, feel free to contact Nicola at nicolaa@google.com!

That one's exciting enough, but another is still open:

2) The second is at Manchester United, of all places (it has been previously advertised, but now has a new email address to send CVs to). They're offering six week internships for interested/interesting graduates. See below:

"It's an all year round series of 6 week marketing internships working for Manchester United at Old Trafford. The available roles in the Marketing Dept are be filled through the STEP Programme (www.step.org.uk) but you can also email your CV direct to cheryl.ennis@manutd.co.uk (note, it has changed) . The role involves working with global brands including AON, Nike, Audi, Smirnoff, Singha and Hublot on activation programmes as part of their partnership with the world's biggest football brand."

So there you have it. Get applying.

Another graduate role...

I'm not sure they'd pay you in US Savings Bonds...

One more job has found its way to AdGrads towers. See below:

(Beta) is a relatively new creative agency, founded by Robert Campbell (formerly of Rainey, Kelly, Campbell, Roalfe) and Garry Lace (former CEO of Lowe, Grey and TBWA). Our major clients are Thomas Cook and Jackpot Joy, and we've just finished Iceland's Christmas campaign. We're looking for someone to be Garry's right hand man/ woman - sit in on all his meetings, have one to ones with clients, associates etc and deal with everything he doesn't have time to deal with.

It's a strong opportunity for a recent graduate - they would learn an incredible amount about the industry and the role of a suit and gain very valuable contacts. In short it's a fantastic stepping stone role.

The salary will be upwards of £20,000, and the position has no closing date - so get in quickly.

Best of luck guys.
